Boston Bolts Will Play In NECSL For 2022/23 Season

BOSTON – The Boston Bolts will join the New England Club Soccer League (NECSL) for the 2022/23 season. The NECSL is affiliated with U.S. Youth Soccer, the largest youth sport organization in the country. The move enables the Bolts to offer more collaborative opportunities to enhance our soccer offerings throughout the region.

“Playing in the NECSL is a great opportunity for us to continue to provide an environment where all of our Bolts players have access to exceptional training and competitive matches so that they may achieve their greatest potential as a player,” Boston Bolts CEO Brian Ainscough said. “We’re excited to work alongside over 50 clubs within the league to continue to build the soccer community in New England and provide as many opportunities as possible for kids to enjoy playing soccer.”

Through the NECSL’s affiliation with U.S. Youth Soccer, the league provides a pathway for all teams to qualify and play in the USYS National League as part of the New England Conference.

“This is an exciting step to ensure that we provide Bolts players across all of our regions with increased local competition,” said South Shore Region Director Don Whitaker. “Having more clubs within one league will grant new opportunities for our youngest players to play jamborees closer to home and our older teams will benefit from the access to new competitions.”

“The decision to move the majority of our teams into the NECSL is not one that we take lightly,” Director of Operations Maura Steeves said. “Ultimately, the opportunity for each of our Bolts Regional teams to play more high-level games locally, paired with the league calendar being announced far in advance and overall preparation the NECSL puts into each season, this decision should help Bolts parents navigate the club soccer season a little easier, while making sure the Bolts provide the best environment possible for the development of every player within the club.”
